The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to research methodologies in Islamic education. This study aims to examine the transformation of Islamic education research methodologies in the digital era by highlighting the use of digital platforms, researchers’ competency limitations, ethical dilemmas, digital data quality, and disparities in access to technology. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, analyzing various scholarly sources in the form of books and relevant journal articles. The findings indicate that Islamic education research methodologies have expanded through the integration of digital technologies, such as online questionnaires, virtual interviews, and data analysis based on learning analytics. However, the utilization of these technologies has not been optimal due to limited digital competencies among researchers, challenges in maintaining the quality and validity of digital data, and ethical issues related to privacy and informed consent. In addition, disparities in access to technology between urban and rural areas affect the quality and representativeness of Islamic education research. This study emphasizes that the development of Islamic education research methodologies in the digital era must be carried out adaptively and critically while remaining grounded in Islamic values. Strengthening researchers’ digital competencies and developing Islamic-based digital research ethics guidelines are strategic steps to enhance the quality and relevance of Islamic education research..
