Archiving Policy

Islamic Education: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam is committed to the long-term preservation and continued accessibility of its published scholarly content. The journal has selected LOCKSS and CLOCKSS as intended distributed preservation approaches in its archiving policy, alongside responsible retention of published article files, descriptive metadata, and notices of correction or retraction. The implementation of these approaches is distinct from the journal's editorial commitment to pursue them.

Distributed Digital Preservation

LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) is a distributed preservation system designed to maintain redundant copies of scholarly content among participating libraries. The model supports continuing access and possible recovery when a publisher's original content is no longer available.

CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) provides a related distributed preservation approach that can support access to preserved scholarly content under defined circumstances if it becomes unavailable from its original source. These services rely on their own collection, participation, permissions, and preservation arrangements.

Under this policy, the journal intends to pursue appropriate archiving arrangements through LOCKSS and CLOCKSS as technical and organizational conditions permit. The goal is to support preservation, restoration, and continuity of the scholarly record should the journal website become inaccessible or publication cease.

Publisher Manifests in Open Journal Systems

Open Journal Systems provides journal-specific LOCKSS Publisher Manifest and CLOCKSS Publisher Manifest gateway pages when the relevant archiving options are enabled. A Publisher Manifest presents published issue and article information for eligible archival collection. The journal's own manifest must use its own OJS context and published content; a manifest belonging to another journal cannot serve as its preservation record.

The availability of a Publisher Manifest is a technical publishing mechanism and is not, by itself, evidence of an external archiving agreement or proof that a network has collected and preserved any particular content. Confirmation of active preservation depends on the applicable network arrangements and preservation status.

Repository Deposit, Backups, and Record Integrity

The journal supports the lawful deposit of published research in institutional or disciplinary repositories subject to the license attached to each work. Deposited versions should identify the original authors, journal title, bibliographic details, and DOI where assigned. Ordinary server backups, OJS Publisher Manifests, repository deposits, and independent network preservation provide different forms of protection and should not be conflated.

If an article is corrected or retracted, the journal seeks to preserve a reliable bibliographic record and link the appropriate public notice to the version of record. Preservation information will be maintained in accordance with the publisher's actual arrangements and revised as those arrangements develop.
